2019 Docent Orientation

Docents support the San Francisco Zoo mission by connecting guests to wildlife through informative talks, biofact presentations and school field-trip tours. You too can be part of this vibrant community of volunteers dedicated to inspiring future conservationists! Join us for our annual docent program orientation to learn more!

Meet at the bronze tiger statue in the Zoo's Entry Village at 9:50 AM
Orientation will begin promptly at 10:00 AM; late arrivals will not be accommodated. 

Minimum Requirements for Adult Volunteers:
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Attend the docent orientation.
  • Successfully pass a background check*.
  • Participate in the 10-week comprehensive training course (Feb 3 - April 15)
  • Commit to 10 service hours per month.
Orientation is FREE to attend! 
No need to purchase parking or Zoo admission. 
*There is a non-refundable $25 background check fee (+additional fee for international background checks)
